Christian Aid

First Lisburn is a congregation aware of the needs of the developing world and is a founder member of the local Christian Aid Support Group made up of 18 churches. Many members give generously to the Presbyterian Church in Ireland’s annual World Development Appeal each Christmas which is shared equally between Christian Aid and Tearfund. Our members subscribe to the Christian Aid slogan ‘We believe in life before death’. Some also commit to direct action by becoming Christian Aid volunteers, collecting door-to-door during Christian Aid Week or in Lisburn City centre on Flag Day. Some help out at the Bread and Cheese Lunches held each Tuesday in the Main Hall making approximately £5,000 each year. At present we are raising awareness for the Make Poverty History campaign which is calling for more debt relief, better aid and fairer trade rules.
